Bonnie
presently moves as a Zen-oriented dharma teacher in the progressive
style of Adyashanti, who gave her dharma transmission in 2004, after
several years as his student. She came to Zen with a rich background
in the yoga tradition and more than 25 years of experience as a transpersonal
psychotherapist, known internationally for her work with kundalini.
She holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and
she is currently on the adjunct faculty there. She is licensed as a
counselor in California and Oregon, and has specialized in working with
spiritual emergence, and training others to recognize and support spiritual
awakening. She was a founding member and director of the Kundalini
Research Network, and authored Energies of Transformation: A Guide
to the Kundalini Process, as well as contributing to other spiritual
anthologies. In recent years she compiled talks and held discussions
with Adyashanti,
editing two books for him, Emptiness Dancing, and a second on the passage
from awakening to liberation which is not yet available. (Look to this
site for a notice when it is!) She is currently writing a trilogy of
books on awakening, kundalini and liberation.
Bonnie has experienced deep awakenings through both yogic and Zen transmission
and practices and is currently dedicated to helping others find completion
and freedom through awakening. She has found the teachings of the ancient
Chinese masters, classic Vedantic scriptures, and modern Advaita Vedanta
teachers to be the most direct in pointing to liberation.
She views
the activation of kundalini as an adjunct to awakening, which transforms
the interior energy flows to support the evolving and stabilizing of
self-realization. Kundalini arising often initiates a process she terms
de-construction, when old patterns and conceptual frameworks fall away.
This ultimately creates a shift of identity so that the naturally harmonious
peace of being dominates our life experience. She has worked with hundreds
of people who report kundalini arising, many before an experience of
realization either through practices or spontaneously, and many after
an awakening of consciousness and realization.
Bonnie
calls her work Spiritual Discovery, and is offering programs in both
Santa Cruz, California and Ashland, Oregon. Usually these are bi-monthly
satsangs, and day-long intensives, focused on embodied meditation and
waking up. Longer retreats may become available in the future. She is
also available by invitation to do intensive meditation workshops and
retreats, and available for private dokusan (spiritual guidance) sessions,
or e-mail consultations regarding spiritual issues. All programs and
services with the exception of the intensives, are by donation only.
If you
wish a private consultation by email or phone regarding questions related
to your kundalini process, Bonnie will send you a kundalini process
assessment questionnaire she developed to gather history and provide
insight about your experiences. Because this takes several hours a fee
is requested for this service, but it is available on a sliding scale
if necessary.
The best
way to contact Bonnie is by e-mail at kundinfo@mindspring.com. If you
wish to set up a phone appointment you can do so by e-mail and she will
send you a phone number to contact her.
